Lod, a City in Growth, 1958-1970
Lod has undergone many changes throughout its existence. While the first decade was characterized by difficult absorption, the second decade saw the economic and social establishment of the city's residents. The third decade was marked by extensive development, the likes of which the city had never seen before. During this decade, not only did the types of housing and services change, but so did the character of the residents who settled there. In the first decade, immigrants arrived in Lod with nothing, and only a few of them continued to live in the city. In the second decade, residents who were attracted by the large factories settled there. In the third decade, Lod absorbed residents who were more materially established.
