Administrative Enforcement - Fines
Dear Residents,
As part of the municipal effort to ensure proper administration and increase governance in the city, the Lod Municipality is moving to administrative enforcement of offenses related to dog licensing and ownership.
Administrative fines are higher and appeals may result in court proceedings.
Stray dogs are a nuisance to residents and may endanger public health.
Please make sure to keep your dog in accordance with the law and avoid unpleasantness.
Offenses for which fines will be imposed:
- Failure to post a “Beware of Dog” sign – 250 NIS
- Keeping a dog without a license - 500 NIS
- Stray dog not on a leash attached to a person capable of controlling it – 500 NIS
- Keeping a dog that is not microchipped - 1,000 NIS
- Keeping a dog that is not vaccinated against rabies - 1,500 NIS
- Dog that has bitten a person and has not been surrendered within 24 hours - 2,000 NIS
- Dog without a leash - the leash length shall not exceed 5 m, and for dangerous dogs 2 m - 500-1,500 NIS
Guidelines for Dangerous Dogs:
- A dog is considered a “dangerous breed” if it is a crossbreed with a dangerous breed and its behavior and physical characteristics are similar to those of a dog belonging to a dangerous breed.
- A dog that has caused actual injury may be defined as a dangerous dog.
- The dog's owner must be over the age of 18.
- A dangerous dog must be kept in public places on a leash, muzzled, and held by a person over the age of 18 who is capable of controlling it.
- Muzzle - a mouth guard worn around the dog's mouth to prevent it from biting - dangerous dogs must wear a muzzle at all times when in public.
Dangerous Dog Offenses:
- Keeping a dangerous breed dog without a license - 5,000 NIS
- A dangerous dog over six months old that is not neutered/spayed - 5,000 NIS
- Keeping a dangerous breed of dog outside the yard without a leash, muzzle, and a person over the age of 18 who is capable of controlling it - 1,500 NIS
- Please avoid unpleasant situations and ensure that your dogs are kept in accordance with the law.
