About the Department
The Youth Advancement Department is an educational and therapeutic framework that operates under the supervision of the local authority and the Ministry of Education. The department accepts boys and girls aged 14-18 who have dropped out of formal educational frameworks.
The department's staff is a professional team skilled in working with adolescents, providing educational and therapeutic solutions. The department's vision is “not to give up to anyone and not to give up on anyone.” The work is done through in-depth acquaintance with the youth and his or her family and in cooperation with various community entities.
Areas of Activity
- Education-Therapy - Personal guidance through a meaningful relationship between an educational-therapeutic worker and each youth in the target population. Provision of educational-therapeutic services (individual and group) to help shape a vision for the future and realize potential in the areas of education, employment, military service, community involvement and volunteerism, and prevention of risky behaviors. In addition, educational-therapeutic services are provided to facilitate integration into the education system, strengthen ties with parents, and promote social integration into the community.
- Completing education - A study program carried out as part of the Hila Program by building a personalized study plan for each youth, while examining their abilities and difficulties. The learning tracks are challenging and meaningful, using a variety of teaching methods while maintaining flexibility in terms of location and time. The study programs are designed to complete 9-12 years of schooling, a matriculation (bagrut) track, and professional courses.
- Preparation for the world of work - Preparing young people for the future world of employment includes: developing a vision for future employment, developing employability, imparting skills, integration, and accompaniment to places of employment.
- Preparing youth for military/civilian service - Preparing youth for military service from receiving their first draft notice until their enlistment in the IDF or national service.
- Leadership and community service - Strengthening youth involvement in the community by integrating them into volunteer activities and community service.
- Parenting guidance - Providing professional guidance to parents whose children receive youth advancement services.
- Dropout prevention - Assisting students at risk of dropping out through educational and therapeutic services designed to strengthen their ability to integrate into school.
Office hours: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. By appointment only.
