The Special Education Department is a warm home for parents of children with special needs. The department provides personal contact and optimal responses tailored to the children's abilities and the parents' satisfaction.

The department is responsible for all special education students aged 3-21 from all sectors – state, state religious, state Arab, and ultra-Orthodox.

The department interfaces and collaborates with various municipal departments, including the Social Integration Division and the Psychological Services Division. It also works with the Ministry of Education's Special Education Supervision Department, Mati'a Ma'aleh, and Nechmad (the Lod Special Education Parents' Association) to provide a broad, comprehensive, and optimal response while integrating people with special needs into the community.

What services do we provide and what issues can we help with?

  1. Granting eligibility for special education (through eligibility and characterization committees), counseling, and guidance in the field of individual response.
  2. Optimal placement according to the student's needs (through placement committees). Maintaining personal contact with families and parents as well as with educational frameworks.
  3. Support and monitoring of the integration of special education students in the city and outside the city.
