Freedom of Information Act – Environmental Information
The Freedom of Information Act establishes the right of every citizen and resident to receive information from a public authority, subject to the restrictions specified therein. The restrictions are intended to protect rights and legitimate interests such as: national security, privacy, professional and commercial secrets.

This information is published on the website in accordance with Section 6A of the Freedom of Information Act, which states that: "A Public Authority shall make information on the environment in its possession available for public inspection on the website of the public authority, if it exists, and in other ways determined by the Minister of Environmental Protection: in this regard, ‘information on the environment’ and the Freedom of Information Regulations (Making Information on the Environment Available for Public Inspection), 5769-2009
The Mey Lod Water Company conducts ongoing monitoring and control of the quality of drinking water supplied to the city in accordance with public health regulations and Ministry of Health guidelines. Water tests are performed at approximately 31 sampling points located throughout the city in the municipal water system by a sampler certified by the corporation. The number of sampling points and their locations are determined by the Ministry of Health in accordance with the size and distribution of the population in the city of Lod.

In accordance with Section 238 of the Municipalities Amendment Law No. 75, Water Quality Reporting Obligation, 2001, the company is required to publish a report on the quality of the water supplied in the city in the press and on its website.
According to the Public Health Regulations (Sanitary Quality of Drinking Water and Drinking Water Facilities), 2013, the corporation must check the following parameters as part of its water quality testing:
- Concentration of free chlorine
- Routine bacterial tests
- Periodic fluoride concentration
- Turbidity values
- Metal values: iron, zinc, and lead
- Trihalomethane monitoring
Mekorot is the exclusive water supplier for the City of Lod.
In accordance with Mekorot's decision, the water supplied is disinfected with chlorine to ensure its quality is safe for drinking and to prevent the growth of bacteria in the water supply system. In addition, Mekorot conducts regular tests on the water supplied to the municipal system.
In accordance with the Public Health Regulations (Sanitary Quality of Drinking Water and Drinking Water Facilities) 5773-2013, Section 40 (Temporary Provision – Fluoridation), the Company will cease fluoridation of drinking water. This will not affect the quality of the drinking water supplied, which complies with the Public Health Regulations as required after the change.
