Education

The Lod Municipality considers education to be of paramount importance. We in the Environmental Unit work hard to instill environmental values from early childhood to old age.

Examples of educational activities:

· Lessons, activities, and training in public institutions and outreach to residents regarding waste separation and its importance.

· Promotion of the “Green Schools” and “Green Kindergartens” program, which reduces the use of synthetic materials and teaches children about environmental values and their implementation.

· The Environmental Unit works in cooperation with the Education Department to develop content that is appropriate and compatible with the grades being taught.

Community Gardens

The Environmental Quality Unit supports the establishment of community gardens and assists in locating sites and raising funds for the establishment of gardens for the benefit of residents.

The community gardens serve as a meeting place for residents, providing enjoyable hands-on work, and the pleasure of harvesting the garden's produce as part of urban agriculture. These gardens have become a valuable place for residents, who hold social activities and other gatherings there in addition to working in the garden itself.

Lod's Community Gardens: making everyday life greener

The Unit publishes a map of the gardens in the City of Lod and informs the public: “Join one of the community gardens near your home, and come with your family or on your own to meet your neighbors and enjoy quality time and shared activities together.”
